The grocery industry is undergoing several exciting changes and Zulzi is looking for a Finance Manager to support our grocery business. This role will provide financial support and analysis for the Zulzi team located in Sandton. The Finance Manager will primarily focus on leading various financial analyses and driving cross-business initiatives along with key controllership processes. This role will play a critical role in liaising with finance leaders as the teams coordinate on several areas from month-end reporting to analyzing various business initiatives/projects. The Finance Manager will provide an opportunity to build strong relationships with many stakeholders cross-functionally, in addition to participating, facilitating, and solving complex cross-finance projects.

Key areas of responsibility

  • Coordinate between marketing, software development, data analytics and sales teams to lead ad hoc analysis and provide insight into grocery metric performance
  • Have a passion for delivering process improvements and seek identifying process improvements for managerial reporting and standardization across different financial systems and key performance indicators
  • Take the lead, with subject matter experts as needed, to drive integration of subsidiaries on key business processes
  • Provide oversight and support for various controllership activities including month-end closing, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated financial acumen and analytical experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of business impact and results
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Strong ability to work with business leaders to deliver results, including the ability to persuade with data.
  • Demonstrated record of continuous process improvement, including the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes
  • Success building and maintaining cross-business partnerships and influencing without authority
  • Advanced problem solving and root cause analysis combined with proven ability to communicate those analyses
  • Highly analytical, detail-oriented and strong business sense; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions
  • Manage and prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, growing and ambiguous environment
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, SQL, and other analytical tools
  • Monthly reporting of key funding requirements and ageing to stakeholders.
  • Preparation of accounts payable reports (including but not limited to Age Analysis, Open Orders, Rebates, RFCs, Credit Limit, GRIR capturing)
  • Manage/create Supplier Invoicing (Rebates / Margin Support).
  • Follow up on Supplier Invoices and ensure collection (cash/credit note).
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as payroll, invoicing, and other transactions.
  • Oversee financial department employees, including financial assistants and accountants
  • Contract outside services for tax preparation, auditing, banking, investments, and other financial needs as necessary
  • Track the company's financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Seek out methods for minimizing financial risk to the company
  • Research and analyze financial reports and market trends
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports
  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation


Minimum Requirements:

  • CA(SA)
  • 4+ years post qualification experience
  • Strong technical knowledge – IFRS, Tax 
  • Strong organization skills, ability to manage own time and work independently
